Can Video taken in an HD Minicam (Sony HDR-XR100) be viewed in a normal dvd player?

I have taken video on my camcorder in HD quality…if i put this video on a DVD will it be compatible with a DVD player?

the short answer is no.
A DVD disc with AVCHD files on it will cause a normal DVD player to malfunction, leading to damage of the disc, damage of the player, or erasure of the disc contents. Quite often the player will refuse to eject the disc and it will have to be manually extracted.
you can downconvert to SD and put on a DVD that would be compatible with a DVD player, but it will no longer be HD.
you can record the AVCHD on a DVD and it will play in a Blu-ray player. However a regular DVD will only hold about 15 minutes of HD material. And take care to not accidentally put in a regular DVD player.
